How we handle your information at Aloe Decks. Written so a homeowner can actually read it.
Three sentences. Then you can stop reading.
We collect your name, phone, email, and a description of your project so we can quote your deck.
We don’t sell your information to anyone. Ever.
We use Google Analytics to see which pages homeowners read, and that’s all the tracking we do.
Want the full version? It’s below. Have a specific question? hello@aloedecks.ca
Who we are
Aloe Decks is a custom deck builder operating across Simcoe County, Ontario. We’re a division of Aloe Contracting, owned and operated locally in Barrie. When this policy says “we” or “us,” we mean Aloe Decks.
If you want to talk to a person about how we handle your information, here’s who to reach:
What we collect, and when
We collect information from you in a few specific situations.
When you fill out a quote form. We collect your name, phone number, email address, and whatever you wrote in the project description. If you give us a property address, we collect that too.
When you call us. We don’t record calls. We do take notes. Your name, your address, what you’re looking to build, what you want to spend.
When you visit our website. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get read and which buttons get clicked. Google Analytics sets cookies on your browser and records your approximate location (city level), the type of device you’re using, and which pages you visit on aloedecks.ca.
When you click one of our ads. If you got here through a Google Ad, Google tells us the ad worked so we know which ones are worth running. The platform sets cookies that may let it show you related content in the future.
We do not collect your social insurance number, banking information, credit card details, government ID, or health information.
How we use it
We use the information you give us for one thing: to quote and build your deck.
Concretely, that means we’ll call or email you back about your project. We’ll save your file in our system so the crew can reference it during the build. We’ll send you progress updates and an invoice. If we worked with you a year ago, we might check in to see if you need any repair work. We won’t sign you up for a newsletter you didn’t ask for.
We use the website analytics to understand which pages help homeowners and which ones don’t. We never tie analytics data back to a specific person.
Who we share it with
We share your information with a small number of service providers because the website couldn’t run without them. Each one is bound by its own privacy terms.
- Hostinger. Hosts the website and stores form submissions in the WordPress database.
- Fluent Forms. The plugin that runs the quote forms on this site.
- Google. Analytics, Search Console, and (when active) Ads. Used for traffic analysis and ad performance.
- Google Workspace. Our email runs through Google, so messages you send to hello@aloedecks.ca live in Gmail.
We don’t sell your information. We don’t pass your details to a lead-generation network, a marketing firm, or another contractor.
Cookies and tracking
Cookies are small files that websites set on your browser. The cookies on aloedecks.ca fall into two groups.
Essential. These keep the site working. They remember things like whether the mobile menu is open. You can’t turn these off without breaking the site.
Analytics and advertising. Google Analytics and, when we’re running ads, Google Ads conversion tracking. These tell us which pages are useful and whether our ads are paying for themselves. You can opt out by using Google’s official browser opt-out extension or by enabling Do Not Track in your browser. Most modern browsers also let you delete cookies at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep quote inquiries for two years. After two years, if we haven’t worked with you, we delete the file.
If you became a customer, we keep your project file indefinitely. Composite deck warranties run twenty-five years and we want to be able to honour them.
Google Analytics data is retained for fourteen months and then deleted automatically.
Your rights
Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) gives you specific rights over your information. You can:
- Ask us what we have on file about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that’s wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information, unless we’re required to keep it for tax or warranty reasons.
- Withdraw consent to be contacted.
To do any of these, email hello@aloedecks.ca with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We’ll respond within thirty days.
If you’re not happy with how we responded, you can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
How we protect it
The website runs over HTTPS, which encrypts everything between your browser and our server. Our email accounts use two-factor authentication. Our WordPress login uses a strong password and an extra layer of plugin-based protection.
We’re a small operation. The number of people who can see your information is the people who need to see it.
Children
Our services are for adult homeowners. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen. If you believe we have, please email hello@aloedecks.ca and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material about how we handle your information, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and post a notice on the homepage for thirty days.
