Filipe and Mauro
A father and son in Barrie who build decks.
Filipe has been a carpenter for thirty years. He taught Mauro how to use a measuring tape before most kids can ride a bike. These days the two of us run Aloe Decks together with a small team of carpenters who have been on most of our builds for years. Filipe leads the work on site. Mauro handles the phone, the quotes, and the build days alongside the rest of the team.
We had been doing this work for years before we gave it a name. Friends, neighbours, family members. Can you build me a deck? After enough of those calls, it became a company.
A deck is one of the few projects you get to live on.
Most carpentry work disappears behind drywall the day after it is finished. Decks are different. You sit on them, eat dinner on them, watch your kids grow up on them. Filipe likes the structural side. Mauro likes that we get to drive past a deck five years later and see it is still being used the way it was meant to be. That is most of why we do this.

We turn down jobs that do not fit
We build a fixed number of decks each season because we will not stretch the team thin to take on more. If a project is rushed, or the budget is wrong for what the client wants, or it just is not a good fit, we say so on the call. Better for everyone.

We do not sub out the build
The carpenters on your build are the same ones who were on the last one, and the one before that. We do not hire day labour off the curb when a job picks up speed, and we do not hand the project off to a different crew once the deposit clears. Filipe is on every build, start to finish.

We pick up the phone five years later
The five-year workmanship warranty is on the quote. The phone number on the quote is the same phone number we are answering today. If something needs attention in 2031, Filipe and Mauro are the ones who show up to look at it.
