We build wood decks in cedar or pressure-treated lumber. The right one depends on your budget, your style, and how much maintenance you want to do every two or three years.

Cedar is real wood at its best. Beautiful, warm underfoot, naturally rot-resistant. It develops a soft silver patina over time, or holds a rich brown colour with a stain every two to three years. Cedar costs about thirty percent more than pressure-treated lumber up front. For homeowners who want a deck that looks unmistakably like wood and feels like wood, cedar is worth it.

Pressure-treated lumber is the most affordable real-wood option. Properly stained or sealed every two to three years, it lasts decades in Ontario weather. It accepts colour better than people expect, and for many family homes in Barrie and Simcoe County it is the right balance of cost and longevity. We use Micronized Copper Azole pressure-treated lumber for ground contact framing and select-grade boards for the surface.
